Hi, I guess she was born in Beagh. My grandmother's grandmother is Ann(e) Glynn, born about 1832 in Gort, Galway, right near Beagh, to Mary and Patrick Glynn. I have no knowledge of her family, other than she was an orphan in the Gort workhouse in 1848. Could read, was very clever. She was selected as one of nine girls fom the Gort workhouse to be sent to Australia in October 1849 to work a domestic servants. About 190 girls, mostly famine orphans were financed by the govts, dressed,(made in the workhouses)supplied with bedding etc and sent off on the Sir Thomas Arbuthnot. 120 of her group were taken to the Southern Highlands of NSW, Yass, Gundagai, Tumut etc....were I come from.My Anne's first, was born in Yass in 1852 and is my grandmother's mother. Now, it is possible that your Mary Anne Glyn was born to her brother, and named for the dead mum and lost sister. It would be nice if that were so. I would love to know if you get any further.
