Michel Godin, dit Turanjeau or Tourangeau, lived in Illinois in 1700s. Died in 1779, one year after he was elected one of the Justices of the Court of the District of Cahokia, Illinois. He married Therese Beauvais dit St. Gemmes (Bauvais), from Kaskaskia, Illinois. He, his wife, and daughter, Marie Therese Godin, are mentioned in the Illinois Historical Records on-line. They also include reference that the Godins had been in Illinois for a hundred years when his daughter married Pierre Mendard, 1st Lt. Gov. of Illinois.I have not been able to find information concerning Michel Godin's siblings or parents. The family rumor is that his mother was American Indian.Does anyone know anything about this line of Godins?
