Ken, maybe you have run across this Goggins. I descend from a Henry Goggins (born about 1810 in SC and died before 1860 in GA) who was married to Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) born about 1810 in SC. Their children, all born in Georgia, include Pinckney (born about 1834), Mary Jane (born 1838), Sarah Frances (born about 1840), and Martha L. (born about 1843). The family settled in Paulding County, Georgia. In the adjacent counties of Carroll and Haralson are numerous Goggins of SC.
I strongly suspect that Henry is part of the Newberry County, SC family. The "Our Folks" book provides one clue. In the list of the children of James Goggans, Jr. (born 1780) is one entry for a Henry Goggans (born 1813) living in Georgia in 1843. The birth dates are pretty close and my research has not shown any other Henry Goggins/Goggans in the state other than mine.
Can you confirm from your database and research that these are the same men? Do you know his wife's maiden name? I've pretty much accepted that these are the same men and have worked out the lineage back to William's son George, but it would be nice to get some additional confirmation.
