John Bell was either from Long Island, NY (as stated on list of Capt. John Smith's Loyal Refugees, 1783) or from NJ (census information for his daughter, Ann Bell Hersey which says both her parents were born in NJ. However, census information is often inaccurate!) A widow's pension application by Letitia (Golding) Bell in 1845 states that she and John were married before coming to New Brunswick in 1783. So my guess is that they met in NY and were married there. Also, I found a John Bell on a list of estates confiscated in New York during the Revolutionary War. Also on the list were George Bell, Joseph Golden, Benjamin Golding and John Golding. I'm hoping that all these pieces of information will fit together some day. Thank you for your help.
