I think the older woman in the HH is Cynthia's mother Nancy Smith and likely her younger children.JW's mother was pretty old in 1840 so it can't be Abigail Smith Golightly.I have tried hard to learn the identity of Nancy's first husband but haven't succeeded.
Mother Nancy m.2nd Enok Fleece, m. 3rd Henry Taylor 27 Mar 1836, Pope Co, by Chas A Shelby.Henry died 25 July 1838, Pope Co IL, owned 3 law books & ferry boat.Reuben and John H Smith were at estate sale.I think Nancy also had dau Mary, b. 1823 KY m. Feliz Taylor 2 Jan 1840, Golconda IL, by John H Smith, minister.JW Golightly paid for Mary's coffin, etc. and both Mary and Feliz dec'd by 1860. Their issue: Nancy, John Harrison, Henry M, Frances, and George T.Note:John Taylor lives in JW's HH in 1860.
We also know JW marries #2 Mary Ann Taylor 17 Nov 1864, Pope Co IL- not sure where she fits in but names are matching. Can mail you chart of what I have.Need address
