again, my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers was the son of our william harris, sr/ frances goode, daughter of our mackernees goode, sr who died intestate before 1790 also there in laurens co, sc and who had also moved there ca 1770 from this lunenburg/ charlotte co, va area.
again, if you have any info or interest in our mackerness goode, sr and his sons, our samuel goode and mackerness goode, jr who died in edgefield co, sc and/ or any other of these same families here-------
i would be glad to hear from you or your posting info here about your same interest.
i am still trying to locate other harris descendants of our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers who died in 1799 in laurens co, sc.
i am also posting this on the mc clain forum because i know, per the laurens co, sc records----
that this james walker mc clain, son of josiah mc clain/ nancy wood, was also involved there in laurens co, sc with the same moon/ glenn families also involved with our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers and our charles harris/ jane cannon as well as with our related edward harris, sr's son, stephen harris also there in laurens co, sc.
again, if you have an interest in these same families, i would be glad to hear from you.
this was my harris/ austin family re our arch harris/ elizabeth carter's daughter rachel caroline harris who married zachariah austin and i would be glad to hear from others also interested in them.
does anyone recognize any other connections re others listed here who may also have had connections to laurens co, sc or to paulding co, ga-----
and if you are interested in our harris/ rodgers/ anderson/ austin families, etc, i would be glad to hear from you.
someone has on a genealogy site that this was our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter's daughter rachel caroline harris/ zachariah austin's daughter amanda caroline austin who was b ca 1832; died 1907 and was buried in indian creek baptist church cemetery; stone mountain; dekalb co, ga and who married as his 2nd wife, james walker mc clain, son of josiah mc clain/ nancy ann wood.
this info cannot possibly be accurate.
our arch harris married our elizabeth carter, daughter of our robert carter, jr, ca 1827 in laurens co, sc and their daughter rachel caroline harris was born ca 1828 and could not possibly have had a daughter amanda caroline austin who was born ca 1832.
our rachel caroline harris austin, who died ca 1875 in paulding co, ga, was the sister of my james harris, who died in 1872 also in palding co, ga, and they are named as the children of my archibald harris/ elizabeth carter in his 1869 cleburne co, al estate papers.
the 1850 census for dekalb co, ga shows that the amanda caroline austin who married ca 1856 james walker mc clain, as his 2nd wife, would have been the daughter of this john cooper austin/ cynthia and who were living in the same anderson district as james walker mc clain.
can anyone tell me if this austin family there in dekalb co, ga was related to our zachariah austin/ rachel caroline harris of paulding co, ga?
per other info, which can be found, this john cooper austins' grandfather and great-grandfather, nathaniel austin, sr and jr were both also in laurens co, sc and that nathaniel austin, jr married sarah anderson, daughter of william anderson/ mary elizabeth cobb, son of james anderson/ margaret.
i know that james anderson's wife, margaret, was margaret rodgers, who was the sister of my john rodgers, esq/ margaret mc nees also of laurens co, sc and whose daughter frances rodgers married my william harris, jr, son of my william harris, sr/ frances goode, ca 1768 in charlotte co, va.
my john rodgers, sr/ margaret mc nees and his sister margaret rodgers anderson were the children of our andrew rodgers, sr/ jane who died in 1755 in lunenburg/ charlotte co, va and who did leave a will there.
my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers, father of our charles harris/ jane cannon and grandfather of our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter, died in 1799 also there in laurens co, sc.
i also note i have interest in other of these same families, including this james walker mc clain, who married amana caroline austin.
again, can anyone help me further with the austin family connections and if our zachariah austin/ rachel caroline harris was related to this same nathaniel austin, sr/ jr of laurens co, sc.?
