I'm attempting to research my husbands line of Goolsbys from Russell County, Alabama which descends from Kirby/Kerby Goolsby according to the following:
Russell County, Alabama Orphans Court Records, Abstracts of Wills and Estates 1840-1848
Page 92, [no date but page 89 dated 6 Jan 1845] Goolsby, Kirby, dec'd, Adm:Adam Ragland Division of Negroes:Mrs. Goolsby - Egbert R. Goolsby - Adam Ragland - Sarah Ann Goolsby - Josah F. Goolsby - RICHARD GOOLSBY - James P. Martin - Jno F. Goolsby - Welcombe W. Goolsby - Ebenzer Goolsby - Mary Ann Goolsby.
Richard Goolsby resided in Russell Co. per 1850 census, unmarried and a merchant.
By the 1860, he is married to a G.A. [maiden name unknown] and they are the parents of Mary Eliza and a son, "E."
Richard and wife are not found on the 1870 census.
Their daughter, Mary Eliza has married [1865 in Enon, Ala] and she has two males, a C.[harles] O.[liver] Goolsby and a "B." Goolsby, living with she and her husband Samuel P. Mendez, as well as her daughter Georgia Adele Mendez.
Charles Oliver Goolsby moves to Dallas, TX and is found living with Mary Eliza and Samuel P. Mendez according to the Dallas City directory 1884-1885.He marries and divorces before his death in 1911 in Dallas.
A Wiley B. Goolsby also lives with the Mendez family in 1884-85 but disappears from the records before the 1900 census.I don't know if he is the same Wiley from the Alabama 1880 census or is he the "B." Goolsby living with the Mendez of 1870 census.
To which Goolsby line does this Kirby/Kerby Goolsby belong?
Is he the Kirby Goolsby of the 1840 Campbell Co. Ga. or the 1840 Jasper Co. Ga census records?
