Judith Goolsby m. 30 Jun 1803 in Oglethorpe Co., GA to Jesse Willingham. [GA Marriage Records] A study of the land records indicate that this is Jesse Willingham b. ca 1753 VA who moved from Henry Co., VA ca 1783/1784 to Wilkes/Oglethorpe Co., GA by 1785 [tax]. Jesse's marriage to Judith Goolsby is a second marriage. Jesse and Judith are on the 1820 and 1830 Madison Co., GA census; the 1830 census shows that Jesse has two sons 15-20 (b. 1810-1815); these would be sons of Judith Goolsby Willingham. A land record in Madison Co., GA shows Jesse Willingham giving land to his two sons, Bushrod Peterson Clacton Willingham and George Washington Newnam Willingham [ named as sons by Jesse in 1831 deed, Book F, p. 19.date 24 Aug 1831, Madison Co., GA.]
Jesse died before 1840 and I cannot find Judith Goolsby Willingham and her two sons on the 1840 census. Does someone know where they are? Could they be living with Goolsby kin?
In 1850 George W. Willingham 34 (b. ca 1816) GA [indexed Wellington] is in Div. 66 Oglethorpe Co., GA with wife, Mary Ann 21, sons William T. 5 and George P. 2, daughter Amanda 1, and JANE WILLINGHAM 70 b. VA [Is this Judith Goolsby Willingham?] and Ava R. (Avanilla) 30 f GA.
Any further information on Judith Goolsby Willingham and her sons is appreciated.
