I have from Ben Franklin's PA Gazette (1731, p. 39) "Charles, Robert, Esq. - married last Wed. to Miss Philadelphia Gordon, the governor's oldest daughter (22 April)"
I do have your ancestor on Patrick Gordon's will. Patrick Gordon, Philadelphia Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Pennsylvania.Died8/17/1736. Wife: name not given Sons: Charles, army(?), and Archibald Daughters: Henrietta, Philadelphia, Elizabeth, and Agatha Harriot. Sons-in-law: Robert Charles and Abraham Taylor (both of these men were the executors)
From the PA Gazette (1736 p. 87) "Gordon, Patrick, Governor of Pennsylvania, dec'd - plantation known as Traveskan, on Passyunk Road, within 1 1/2 miles of Phila., for sale by Robert Charles and Abraham Taylor, executors (9/16)"
I hope we can clear this up.I hadn't come across anything saying that Philadelphia had married anyone other than Robert Charles.I will be doing some more digging, and I will let you know what I come up with.
