Hello, I'm Earl Goree of Midland,Ga., my roots stem from Simsboro,La. Son of Flossie Davis, raised by Florence Crowe Goree of Simsboro,La. I've traced the Goree roots for some time now, dating back to the 1800's during slave trade, and one thing I suprisingly found out was that the name Goree is not common, since being here in Georgia i've contacted several Goree's that are Caucasion. The more I look into this it appears to me that whosoever bears the uncommon Goree name are related. The White Goree's from Jessup, Georgia have the same names as my Grandmother Florence Goree's sons of Simsboro,La.,James,Lenward and Herbert Goree. The Goree's have a very interesting history, especially Goree Island in African where slave trading took place. We will have a annual Goree reunion in Arcadia,La 3-5 July 2009 and all are invited.
