Article from the Christian Advocate and Journal, dated May 12, 1864. LAVINIA EMMA GORTON, wife of REV. P. GORTON, died at East Granby, Conn., March 26, aged 33. She was born in Liberty, N.Y., converted to join the M. E. Church in 1848 and married in 1850. The last nine years of her life she fulfilled the duties and made the sacrifices of an itinerant Methodist preacher's wife. Five of those years were spent in the frontier work within the bounds of the Nebraska Conference. In the spring of 1862 her husband located and with his family returned to the East and was engaged as a supply at East Granby. Here she was seized with consumption and was called to pass through severe sufferings. In her last moments she bid her friendsa adieu, assuring them she was going home. signed by H.
