Great to hear from you - my email is email@example.com.I started tracing the Goucher family tree last summer but like everything in life work gets in the way!So all my notes are not put together properly.I had done research on Charles and Agnes- they show up in the 1901 census with a 26 yr odl daughter Lucy who was born in Norwood (couple of miles outside of Croydon). They lived at 116 Clifton road. My Grandfather was m,Charles Goucher born 1891 - married to Annie Murphy. They had Charles, John, Dennis (my dad) & Mary (only one alive now).
My Great Grandfather was Charles Goucher (general Labourer)I need to order his birth certificate - I think they were the Goucher's who lived at 50 Broad Green ( I want to check it out when I go over). My Great Grandfather was born in 1871 and died in 1940 he was married to a Mary
Goucher- they had Charles (my grandfather) & George, frederick and Edith May.
I need to put all my info together - I will order a lot of the birth, marriage and death certificates.
My Grandparents lived at 6 napier Road in South Croydon all their married lives.
In the 1841 census again at Broad Green there is a Charles Goucher who is 3 along with Maria 1, Harriet 4 and William 6.Ellen 11, Sarah 33 & John 40. John Goucher was born in 1801 in South Arundel - an agricultural labourer. Sarah Goucher was born in Somerset in 1808.
In the 1851 census Harriet was a servant in Horse Croft road- worked for a confectioner.William was a Brick mason born in 1835. So from my math this Charles has to be the one married to Agnes in the 1901 census - your grandfather,
On the 1901 census my Grandfather was 11 lived at 40 Beaulah Grove - his father was Charles Goucher age 30 general labourer - born croydon surrey. So that would be around 1871.His wife mary was also 30 and born in Lewisham, Kent.
In the 1851 census there was a phoebe goucher age 3 - lucy goucher age 6 george goucher age 9 all at 50 Broad Green.
I really need to look in to the 1871 and 1881 census
It is great to be in touch with you - I love history and it is so much fun to trace the family history - I am trying to do both sides of my family - luckily they were all around the Croydon / London area.
Please email me direct- when I get back from England I can email you photos - I have a few of my grandfather and one of his brother at my parents wedding. It would be interesting to see if there is any one who looks like your family.
