The Henry Gouger you reference was born 1754, Berks Co. Pa. His father was Ludwig Gouger born 1716, Bonfeld, Germany. Ludwig came to America in 1727 on the ship Wm and Sarah. He came with his parents - Hendrick and Anna Maria (Eberli) Gouger. Our name was originally spelled Gauger. Henry migrated to NC from Berks Co. prior to the American Revolution. He fought as a patriot in the American Revolution in NC.
There is an article you might find interesting. It is called Conrad Sloop: An exploration of facts and tradition. It is located in the Rowan County Register Vol. 10, No. 2 p. 2225. The article is about 15 pages long. I only have 3 of the pages (the ones that deal with Henry Gouger). A quote from the article says: Luthern Church Centerin Darmstadt - Darmstadt, 1734, Seite 242: On Sunday, the 5th of December, 1734, Johann Ludwig Schlupp and his wife Anna Margaretha, presented their little son, Johann Conrad, for baptism. He was born the 2nd of December at eight in the evening.
If you cant find the Rowan County Register, let me know.
