I am thrilled to death to see that there has been some activity on this board in the past month.I must go out of town more often!!!
I spent the past month with my sister(s) in Omaha, NE.We took a drive to Cherokee Co.; Woodbury Co.; Des Moines; and Elk Horne, Iowa.I met some very nice people in all these places.
In Elk Horne, we actually found my father and uncle on one of the lists they had.My uncle came to this country in 1906; my father came over in 1908 (age 16).They came to the USA to be with an uncle, Neils Jensen Peterson/Pedersen.He was my grandmothers brother and he came to America when he was 11 years old (we don't know who he may have come over with). We did find him (Neils) and his wife Christina (von Smith from Sweden)on the 1910 and 1920 census'.Myrtle was born in Nebraska; the other children: Alice, Helda, Effie, Ethel and Opal, were born in Iowa. This is much more info than I had before I took my trip.I just wish it would 'gel' with what someone else might have.
I'd love to hear from you if you think there may even be a 'remote' connection.
Looking forward to hearing from someone!
