Background: As many of you probably know, my dad participated in the Grammer DNA Project, which is on the FamilyTreeDNA website ( www.familytreedna.com ).You can find the Grammer page by doing a surname search. So far, he is the only GRAMMER male descendant to do the DNA test. This line goes back to James G. Grammer born ~1810.Many think he is the son of Joseph Grammer in TN.
Hope: It is my hope that more direct male descendants will take the test, so we can learn more about the family history.
News: There is a 25/25 marker match with another individual. However, his family surname is not Grammer. His family traces back to Berne, Switzerland in the 1600's.
What does that mean??? The 25/25 match indicates there is a likely matching ancestor (~95%) around 12 generations ago.It could mean there is a father reported that is not the true father (adoption?).It could mean someone changed surnames. Is Joseph Grammer really a descendant of the Grammer family tree?Without more data, we just don't know.
