Geoff Grant erroneouly claims that Matthew Grant's line is no Scottish. He makes claims with no validated effort.
He uses outdated Arthur Hastings Grant, he contradicts DNA professionals, he contradicts clan historians, he contradicts himself saying Matthew Grant can't be Scottish, because he came over with English Puritams, yet Thomas Grant came over with Puritans, as well (and is Scottish) - the two Grant lines are connected. He ignores oral history, clan paintings, and clan crests within Matthew's line; they knew their ancestry back then, better than we do, now.In the 1800s, Scottish festivals and Highland Games were not big in the United States, so one would not carry tartan just to carry it; it would be a piece of heirloom. He ignores that Scots traveled (migrated) south to England, especially since they were a conquering clan, still making them Scottish, but a line far removed). He claims he is going to England in 2013 to learn more of the Grants there; English and Irish Grants have talked about being related to President U.S. Grant, so he will learn of erroneous claims and will learn that English Grants are, in fact, Scottish.
We already had the discussion in June.(I re-posted my former posts here in one place so people do not have to search.) Geoff brings nothing to the table, but erroneous claims.
Unlike Geoff's accusation of it damaging me.I have had people ask me for help with their geneaologies.
My letting the truth be known about my family is not damaging to me.
Geoff just shows his closed mindedness and arrogance.
