I'm not sure how familiar you are with Wirksworth and it's history, so I apologise in advance if this is all old hat.
I'm quite interested in industrial archaeology and frequently visit Middleton-by-Wirksworth where a family friend lives. There is an old abandoned railway line their which was a branch off the old Cromford and High Peak Rly, and which nowadays is home to a narrow gauge enthusiast's railway. This line was known as the 'Killers Branch' as it ran from Black Rocks on the CHPR up to the Killers Quarry at Middleton. Apparently, the Killers were quite a wealthy family in the Wirksworth area, so details shouldn't be too hard to come by. You could contact the Heritage Centre at Wirksworth.
Good luck, Ashley
