Joseph W. went by Warren, b. 1837, d. 1865 He was killed by Major Koegy (?), part of Stoneman's Raid His father is Joseph, twin brother to Benjamin.
Union troops under Stoneman rode through Boone (see Arthur's book).And it was written up in the Caldwell County Heritage Book.It reports that Warren's gun went off, and the Union troops fired, killing him on March 28, 1865.The location was about where the Daniel Boone Hotel once stood, on the main street (King or Queen).Condominiums are there now.The Heritage book reports that Warren "was killed when he accidentally pulled the trigger and the hammer fell on the cap that fired the powder.The troops returned fire.There were killed:Ephraim Norris, whose wife was a Green; Jacob M Councill, and Warren Green.The guns were muzzle-loading, very long guns where they packed the powder, shot, wad and cap.Calvin, Warren's cousin, was also wounded.
