Minnie Green Fox Cagle-Cocke-Monroe Tennessee
I am wondering if anyone is familiar with Minnie Green Fox Cagle and her children. I would like to know which ones may have survived in order to pass along this family information.
Minnie Green was born on 26 January 1881 in Cocke County and died at the age of 66 of “Acute Coronary Occlusion” in Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee on 18 October 1947. She had lived in the community 25 years, her husband was seventy three years old, and shw was buried at the Sunset Cemetery in Madisonville by Biereley Funeral Home. Her parents are listed as Wade Green and Lissie Arms. The informant was her husband, R.L. Cagle (Death Certificate 22608)
Minnie Fox Cagle appears to have an obituary listed in the Monroe County Democrat newspaper on 22-29 October 1947 and another listing on 27 October 1948.
Minnie married a Fox first, possibly Drew/Drewey Fox in Cocke County on 17 September 1899, and had a daughter named Nellie (b. 1905) and a son named Bruce (b. 1908)
The 1900 Cocke County census, district 6, sheet 33A, household #663 lists Drewey Fox 18, Minnie 18, and Robert 0.
The 1910 Madisonville, Monroe County Tennessee census, Vol. 72, ED 152, Sheet 11, District # 15 shows Minnie (29-sister-law-widow) Nellie 5 (niece) and Bruce 2 (nephew) in the John T. and Nancy Belle Holt Green Mode household. She is a sister of Nancy Belle Holt Green Mode.
The 1920 Monroe County, Tennessee census, district 3, sheet 7B, household #134 lists Joseph W. Kirk 80, Josephine 60, Minnie Fox 39 (servant-widowed) and Roy J. Fox 3.
The 1930 Monroe County census lists Josephine Utek/Kirk 71, Minnie Fox 49 (servant-married) and Roy Jackson Fox 13 (servant’s son)
The 1940 Monroe County census, district 3, sheet 6A, household #109 lists Minnie Fox 59 (single-widow) and Jack Fox 24 (house painter) Minnie lived in the same house in 1935 and is living next door to the Erastus Cagle family and five households away from Robert L. Cagle, household #104.
Minnie married second to Robert L. Cagle who was born 14 February 1874 and died at the age of 78 from a Coronary Occlusion/Chronic Myocarditis on 3 May 1952 in the Sweetwater Hospital. Informant, Mrs. Catie Nicholl of 1121 Hillside Blvd, San Francisco, California, stated that Robert was a retired barber, his father was Martin Cable, and his mother was unknown (Death Certificate #52-11079) Robert is buried at Sunset Cemetery in Madisonville, Tennessee.
The 1920 Census for Cocke County, district 43, sheet 3A, household #39 lists Thomas Swatzel 73, Jaily 59, Bartly 15, and Nellie Fox 15 (niece) Jaily is a sister to Nancy Belle Green Holt Mode.
