Hello Charlie Pleased to meet you!!As you surmised, the marriage date between Mary Greenhow and Joseph Holmes was in fact a typo, they were married on May 25, 1851 in Sycamore, DeKalb, IL.I have seen the Greenhow name spelled several ways and the Grano spelling is one of them.I would be very interested in any information that you would have about the Greenhow family living in DeKalb Co., IL or for that matter any of the Greenhow descendants living elsewhere. The only descendants of James Greenhow and Mary Long that I have much information on are Mary Greenhow (which is my direct line) and I have seen the information on the descendants of John Greenhow that is present at your familytreemaker website (by the way, you did a whale of a good job with this branch of the family!!Keep up the good work!!)
The Holmes family (that of Joseph Holmes and Mary Greenhow) did in fact remain in Ogle Co., IL for many years and some of the descendants of the marriage of Joseph Holmes and Mary Greenhow reside in that general area to this day.My direct line to James Greenhow comes through Mary who married Joseph Holmes, they had Robert W. Holmes who married Florence Clark, they had Marion E. Holmes who married John L. Hildebrand, who had Charles Verne Hildebrand who is my grandfather.I have just begun tracing this side of my family so I don't have much information on these branches of my family but I am certainly willing to share what information that I have.
It sure is nice to hear from a "new-found" cousin and I certainy look forward to hearing more from you!!
