Dear Willam, Many thanks for your contact regarding Daniel Greening.
In the census of 1901 he said that he was born in Dudley, another town on the railway line to Birmingham. He went to India, Kanpur, to work on the new railways there in the 1870's and 1880's so the date of the photograph would fit.
He Married Mary in India, she having been born there as a British Subject. Lina was born in 1879 bur died, followed by Stanley in 1881 and Donals in 1884. He was not well and the fmaily returned to the UK in 1885
In 1890 Daniel became the landlord of Ye Olde Farm in Birmingham, renamed Ye Olde Tavern, and was there until his death in 1913.
Three of his sons, Stanley, Alfred and ? emigrated to Canada before the First World War.
Daniel's son Donald remained in Birmingham and had six children, Alan, Louis, Katherine, Marie, Stanley and Donald who was my father.
I would be very grateful for any linking information, and would love a copy of the photograph, expenses to be repayed.
