We are to this day Huguenots, AND JEWS. We were not fleeing persecution, we were heading to England to fight the ROMAN CATHOLIC EMPIRE, which is just the old Roman Empire re-clothed by Constantine. In England we served King Henry the VIII in expelling Romans AND Catholics out of England or THROUGH THE VEIL!!!! If you truly knew your history you would know THIS family NEVER fled from ANYTHING! We meet it head on with SWORDS. We have been a family of warriors since the Albigensian Crusade in 1241. We have ALWAYS been on the side of VICTORY! Be proud of being Greenleaf, we have always been on the front edge, where the rubber meets the road. WE DID NOT FLEE PERSECUTORS---WE SLEW THEM!!!!
My family tree goes way beyond Edmund. There are TWO and they are both sons of John Greenleaf, son of Stephen Greenleaf. They were born almost 20 apart. The first Edmund was married to Sarah Moore. His younger brother Edmund and he acted as one person in our family business of traffic with the Orient. Younger Edmund, after coming to America on the Mayflower, traveled back and forth between America and England. In England HE was married to Sarah Dole, and in America he was married to Sarah Hills. This is from personal knowledge of our own family records which are passed to me from my forefathers, and go back 1000 years. Our lifespan for each individual clear past 1500 has been into our 80's and 90's, unless killed in battle. Example, Capt. Stephen Greenleaf, Battle of Wells, 1690; and two, a father and son, both Williams, from Pennsylvania, during the Civil War. We lost no one in the Revolutionary War, but we SHED MUCH BLOOD!
My own father James Louis Greenleaf perished at age 33, when I was 2, from radiation poisoning he received by being brought home from Japan through Nagasaki, after liberation. He survive the Death March, he survived 40 months in Slave labor camps, and was killed in Nagasaki and didn't even know it. Lucky to be born or not, I am flawed.
I hope you find the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
