I am a BIG FAN of Ancestry but NOT of the Family Data Collection, which is strictly hearsay submitted by individuals who usually don't have any sources, much less solid ones.I would GUESS, although I don't KNOW, that someone started with the incorrect 1636 deed info, worked backwards and decided Susan Greenleafe "Warren" "must have" come over about 1635 to have married by 1636. I don't know anything about Rappahanock County, or even (without looking)whether it yet existed in 1635 (I doubt it). I only know that the JAMESTOWN Susan Greeneleafe, relict of Robert, an ancient planter, married a Thomas Markham before 1636 because the deed spells it out so plainly. She and Robert were in Va several years before the marriage to Thomas Markham mentioned in the deed. It's a shame that the second deed with the scrivener's error has had such widespread publicity on the Warren site while the original correct deed has had equal publicity on the Markham site.
I've seen images of both deeds and I promise you the original deed was to Thomas Markham and the Thomas Warren was a mistake, easily made with the Markham having been written in such spikey old handwriting.
I'll bet you ten dollars that NO ONE has seen the records you mention or a ship's manifest because they aren't real.
There is a LOT of misinformation out there, even on reputable sites like Ancestry, especially when people are allowed to post whatever they want, true or false. If you DO find any actual orginal records, though, I would really, really love to see them. If there's a ship's manifest image with Susan Greenleafe and Thomas Warren on it I need to see it. but ask yourself this : when have you ever seen a married woman's maiden name on ANY early record?(In fifty years of research, I've seen ONE!)
Meanwhile, the Markham DNA project appears to have shown that the Thomas of Jamestown descendants are Markhams and not Greeneleaves, so apparently Thomas Markham and Susan Greeneleafe did have at least one additional child of their own.
