I have been researching the life of George Bellas Greenough, geographer, geologist, Member of Parliament, builder of Grove House, Regents Park, London, and after whom the Greenough River in Western Australia was named. His grandfather was Thomas Greenough of Bedford Square, London; Thomas' daughter married a man named Bellas and George added Greenough to his name on becoming his grandfather's heir. Occasionally both Thomas and George's names are spelt Greenhough, hence my interest ! I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has any knowledge of this family - especially of Thomas' origins. GBG never married so the line died out with him.
