I just returned from Delaware but didn't have nearly enough time in the archives. However, Robert Holliday married Meliscent Currer Jones. Meliscent was born 8/14/1762 in Cecil Co., MD to Jacob and Augustine Currer Jones. Jacob and family moved to Duck Creek Hundred, Kent Co., DE about 1770. Jacob Jones had another daughter, Martha, who married Joseph Greenwood 1/1/1783 in Kent Co., DE. He was the son of Joseph Greenwood(Sarah) who died 1773 in Kent Co., DE. This Joseph was the son of Jonathan Greenwood, who died 1745 in Kent Co., DE. (Or at least this appears to be the way this family goes based on info I have at the present time.)
There was a John Greenwood who died 1763 in Kent Co., DE who left everything to his cousin, Richard Holliday, who was also the administrator of his Will. The Will was witnessed by Robert Holliday.
I believe this John was the son of Jonas (died 1752 Kent), who was the son of Mathias, who was the son of an earlier Jonas, a surveyor, who died 1713/1714 in Duck Creek Hundred, Kent Co., DE.
The Joseph/Jonathan Greenwood line seems to have come to Delaware from Queen Anne's Co., MD. It also seems that they settled in Mispillion Hundred, Kent Co., but I'm waiting on copies of the land records to confirm that.
The Jonas and Jonathan Greenwood families are probably connected, but I don't know how. Joseph Greenwood, who was in Mispillion Hundred, somehow met and married Martha Jones who was in Duck Creek Hundred. Could he have met her by visiting his Greenwood relatives there?
So I guess the answer is that I don't know who Susanna Greenwood was the daughter of. I've tried to work on the Holliday line some, too, to see if it could shed some light on the relationship of the two Greenwood lines. Do you have any info on Robert or Richard Holliday?
Thanks.
