I have an interest in following up griev(e)son genealogy. Don't worry about the spelling as there appears to be many variants about, although I don't think that Creviston (R Milburn's reply) will be one. My family are from the Durham/Easington area and I can trace back as follows: me - Robert - Robert - John William - Robert - John (born about 1811 in Easington) - Robert. The internet is a great place to find relatives and I recently found a site by John Dodd who was looking for grieveson's and he turns out to be my fifth cousin, and decended from William (the brother of John(1811)). I have many names from 1841 to 1891 censuses but cannot connect most of them (including Cuthbert - Jean Dennison's reply) . I have references to the Griev(e)son name back to the 1400's. I now live in York and would be happy to share information. My second cousin has done a lot of research through the Nothumberland and Durham family history society.
