SPRINGFIELD - Harold Albert Griffitts, 81, of Springfield died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1925, in Cantrall, the son of Edgar A. and Goldie M. Brown Griffitts. He married Veronica "Dottie" Boroweic in 1945; she died in 2005.
Mr. Griffitts was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the South and Central Pacific. He worked for Pillsbury Mills and at Griffitts Construction from 1955 until he retired as president in 1990 after 30 years. He was a member of Elks Club 158 for 33 years and Springfield Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors: three brothers, Harry (wife, Joanna) and Horace Griffitts, both of Riverton, and Henry (wife, Sherlyn) Griffitts of Milton, Fla.; sister, Roberta Brunner of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Camp Butler National Cemetery, the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating.
