I am researching George Washington Grandstaff b. abt 1845 in Missouri, died 13 November 1885 in Independance Missouri.
It seems highly possible that George is the son of Isaac Grindstaff son of Drury Grindstaff but at this time I have no proof.
The fist record I have on George Washington Grandstaff is his marriage record to Matilda Kirby September 12,1869 in Knoxville, Knox County, illinois. He then can be found in the 1870 Federal Census in Truro, Knox County, Illinois. Then in Franklin Township, Fremont County, Iowa in the 1880 Federal Census. He can also be found in the 1885 Nebraska State Census living in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. I understand that he was hit and killed by a train in Independance, Missouri.
I have not been able to lacate George or Isaac in the 1850 or 1860 Federal census records. Can anybody help me lacate them or give me additional information to help me possibly connect to this Grindstaff line.
