Irish/English Grittons World War 1
Can anyone help?
Information on my family is rather slim. My grandfather Willian Gritton and his brother Harry, of Irish parents in Birmingham, England, fought in the First World War in the Warwickshire Regiment. My grandfather later fought in the machine gun corps as a motorcycle despatch rider. Both survived the war. They had, I think, 2 sisters who married Canadians (or maybe one of them American) and emigrated. One of those Canadian brothers-in-law also fought in France in 1914/18.
I have no family records of the sisters - they may have been born in Ireland and the records lost in the Easter uprising there, like so many were.
Does this make any links to other family histories?
Many thanks.
