Thanks for your reply and additional information.I think you made a typo on the date of death for Daniel in 1722 (two places). I assume you mean 1822.
Daniel married Christina Decker in 1814, you say he had a son Jesse born in 1800 so was this his second marriage to Christina?
Here is what I have found. MARRIAGE: Daniel Grosskost m. Christina Decker on Jan. 25, 1814 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Hanover, York Co, PA.
(so unless this was another marriage, I would estimate Daniel born about 1790.)
CENSUS: 1850 Adams Co. Mt. Pleasant, Daniel Groscost 32 farmer PA, Christina Groscost 57, Susanna 25, John Slonaker 14. Household 268-274
(his wife Christina was born 1793)
Daniel and Christina named one of their children Susanna and so I think that lead me to Daniel and Susanna as this Daniel's parents.
I found Daniel and Susanna in OH but he refers to his brother in PA.
SOLDIER: Daniel Groscost S8629 PA Line, appl. 30 April 1834 Trumbull Co, OH He was born in Nov. 1758 in York Co and he lived there at enl. a John Groscost of Beaver Co, PA aged 74, sol was born in 1760 in York Co and he lived there at enl and later served as a substitute for his brother John Groscost and after the Rev. moved to Beaver Co, PA.
The father John Groscost left a will naming son Daniel and John and also the name Susanna is in that family.
WILL: John Groscost of Berwick Twp. will dated Sep. 23 1801 prob. Oct. 27, 1801 wife Christina children named John, Jacob, Elizabeth, Susanna and her husband Joseph Little, Christina and her husband John Knight, Daniel, and Mary.
So that is how we came up with the line as follows:
John Groscost m. Christina Noll had son Daniel Groscost m. Susanna Patterson had son Daniel Groscost m. Christina Decker.
I agree this family duplicated the name Daniel.I have tried to look at the deeds and censuses but still feel more is needed to concretely connect the Daniel of OH with the Daniel as son of John and father of Daniel. I would like to see the Daily record of his business. Where can I obtain copies?
Thanks for contacting me and adding to my information on this family. I look forward to exchanging what little I have.
