It's my understanding that the Grose surname arrived in England from France with the French Protestant Hugenots when they were persecuted by the Catholics in the 16/17th centuries. There is a memorial to (I think) a Captain William Grose in Wandsworth, London. The Hugenot refugees settled in that area of London I have a book on the Hugenots but have been unable to locate it since a house move in New Zealand. As soon as I do find it I will be in a more informed position and shall post the information I find. Most books on the Hugenots should have some information on the Grose families that landed in Britain. My father was George Arthur Vincent Grose who was born in London in 1905, but whose family were mainly in Northhamptonshire. He had a brother Lionel Grose whose daughter Pat lives somewhere in the eastern USA.
