Several Groth families arrived at Port of New York aboard the Barque Hualco on 22 August 1843 from Hamburg. They came from Grambow and Tribsow, Kreis Cammin, Pomerania. Ludwig W. Groth was married to Carolina Friederike Dobberpuhl; Ferdinand Groth was married to her sister Wihelmine Juliane Dobberpuhl. Cedarburg (the Cedar Creek Settlement)was founded by four Groth brothers (four of the six sons of Christian Groth. Karl Dobberpuhl was Ludwig Groth's wife's brother and was also among the founders of Cedarburg. A History of the Groth Family is in the Cedarburg library. I am interested in the Groths as there were other marriages between Groths and Dobberpuhls, who were my ancestors.
