Guten Tage, Randall:I tried to repond earlier but the site was jammed with traffic. The web site militia roster you found is from PA Archives, 2nd Series, Vol.XIV, p567 -- 1778 3rd Battalion, 3rd (Weisenberg) Company.Jacob's sons are also listed in PA Archives, 5th Series, Vol.VIII, p.445-7 as the 6th Battalion, 3rd Company.Since these rosters were divided into "classes" it means that these were not the rosters of called up troops (at that time), but were rather the local militia in training & readiness.Classes are not used in actual called up rosters. Also, only those swearing the OATH OF ALLEGIANCE to PA could join the militia. That precluded Quakers & some German sects from joining the militia and voting. The PA Archives are a good source for unusual information in that I found a local treason trial involving Jacob & several other battalion members during the time when the Radicals were seizing power from the old Quaker and provincials in 1776.Jacob II also submited an expense claim for chasing tories in 1780.

If you are looking for battles to substantiate an application to the SONS OF THE AM.REV. (SAR), they will accept the militia roster as qualifying evidence for membership.I had to build a case from scratch back to the 1830 before finding comparable DAR links to Jacob & his brood.
