[Jackson Parish, LA - unknown year] James Gryder, 77 Funeral services for James H. Gryder, 77, of Eros were held Feb. 24 in the Salem Church with the Rev. Ernest Norman officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery. Mr. Gryder died Feb. 22 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was a retired forestry worker and a welder and mechanic. He also served in the United States Marines during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudine Hackworth Gryder; and one grandson, Rodney D. Gryder, II. He is survived by sons, Harold S. Gryder and wife Dorothy of Eros and William H. Gryder of Eros; daughters, Wilma V. Gryder of Eros and Frances Simons and husband Johnny of Eros; sisters, Lota Mae Loflin and Nina Loflin, both of Chatham; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons, James E. Gryder, Rodney D. Gryder, Johnathan D. Gryder, Mark B. Simons, Matthew S. Simons and David Caughran. Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
