Retired Air Force Lt. Col. William E. Gryder, 65, Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Orrick in Ray County, died March 15, 1991, at a hospital in Tucson. He was born in Orrick and lived in Anchorage, Alaska, and Catawissa, Pa., before moving to Tucson in 1986. Lt. Col. Gryder was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a former member of the Alaska Air National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Claudia Getz Gryder of the home; two sons, William C. Gryder, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Edmond "Ted" Gryder, Columbia, Md.; three daughters, Teresa Stewart, Medford, Ore., Donna Boutet, Anchorage, and Georgenia Pless, Tucson; his mother and stepfather, Pauline and Fred Gryder, Orrick; two brothers, Benny Gryder, Orrick, and Paul Gryder, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Norma Lou Dugan, Orrick; a half brother, Harold Gryder, Bethany, Mo.; two half sisters, Darlene Phillips, Yakima, Wash., and Arlene Miller, Tulsa, Okla.; and six grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Orrick. .
