The Chalk's are a branch of my mother's family tree.Frank and Susan Chalk are listed on the 1860 Census of Campbell County, Kentucky with four children:Joseph(8), John (6), Frank (5), and Elizabeth (3).His profession is listed as a farmer born in France and his wife born in Switzerland.I was lucky to tap into a Gubser Family History book, which gives lots of details about the family. He is the son of Francois Jacques (names were Anglicized upon arrival in America) and Annie Catherine Trouy of northeastern France although all were German in speech and culture.Frank was the youngest of five siblings:Peter (Pierre)b.21 Feb.1821, Anna Maria b. 1 Aug. 1824, John Peter (Jean Pierre)b. 23 Feb. 1826, Henry (Henri)b. 2 Sept. 1828, and Frank (Francois) b. 12 March 1831 all in Puttelange, France. Most of these ancestors are buried in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetary at Twelve Mile, Kentucky and the Gubser's settled what was then Gubser's Mills now called California Crossroads.I have more information, but it was collected before computers and would have to send hardcopies if you want.
