My ancestor sailed from Mexico to the Philippines in 1776 bringing with him his coat of arms emblazoned with the words, AVE MARIA GRATIA PLENA. His name was Manuel Cleofas Guerrero from Mexico. At about this time, Manila then was being invaded by the British troops. Perhaps, it was this reason why he came to the Philippines as a reinforcement troops from Mexico. After the skirmish, he settled in Bacnotan, a small tobacco town up north and was appointed gobernadorcillo of the town. He could have married a local girl and sired a son named Alejandro. Alejandro had three children, Cayetano, Rosa and Liberato. I am a direct descendant of Liberato. Notice my last name as KARGANILLA. One of the descendants, DOMINGO, adopted his mother's last name, KARGANILLA as he joined KATIPUNAN, a secret society who fought the Spaniards for independence. Still, the warrior blood of the GUERRERO never died in him. My lineage, starting from my great ancestor is over 200 years.
