Found something much more interesting that points closer to the original name of Frances Crawford and not Frances Gulledge.
There are other ties between the Ratliff and Crawfords besides yours, thus it is likely your name of Crawford is correct.
Starting with a David Crawford and Elizabeth Jackson marriage. These two rasied a large family in North Carolina, and David's death place is Anson, NC. David was born about 1780-1790 for reference. 8 children are listed from 1809 to 1832 to this marriage. The years of the childrens births are 1809, 1812, 1818, 1820, abt 1827, 1827, 1830, 1832. Notice the large gap between 1820 and 1827? That in and of itself is not real significant but let me go further.
David's last son born 1830, also named David, married Rachel Thomas Ratliff, daughter of James Hamer Ratliff and Mary Jane Grady. David Jr. had three children. The first born in NC, the second in Carthage Miss, the third in Alabama.
David's last child born in 1832, Rosanna also married a Ratliff. Nathaniel G. Ratliff, another child of James Hamer Ratliff and Mary Grady. His family and descendants wound up in South Carolina.
One of David's oldest daughters Mary, married a Bennett, and their daughter married a Gaddy. Gaddy is another name that is associated with the Ratliff's (and Gulledges).
O.k., so that shows a similar Ratliff connection, but not to Henry M. Ratliff who married Francis Crawford., let's try to tie it together. Henry had a brother Thomas J. Ratliff. Thomas married a woman named Mary Helen Ratliff. Same last name, but different family. Mary Helen Ratliff's parents were none other than James Hamer Ratliff and Mary Jane Grady.
So, what we have proven is that both Ratliff families lived close by, and the Crawford family was near by. James Hamer Ratliff's offspring were marring Crawfords, and it is therefore likely that this Crawford family is the same as Frances Crawford's.
My estimation is that Frances Crawford is a daughter of David Crawford and is missing from the family listing.
I have gathered lot's of Ratliff data doing this search if your interested. Let me know if this all makes sense to you.
