MyGunning ancestor Timothy was the son of Timothy and Margaret(Greeley)Gunning, born August 12,1818 in the Parish of Moore, Roscommom, Ireland. He arrived in New York on the 1st of June 1846. He became a U.S. citizen in 1854 or 1855 in Boston, Ma.He was listed as a laboror. He married a Margaret Donovan.I'm not sure we're they married or when (could have been in Ireland) but they had a son, born Boston 1847, and died Boston Dec. 20,1848. His name was Patrick.Thier 2nd son my ggggrandfather, was born Boston on April 09,1849. His birth was recorded with the improper spelling of Gunning as Gunnan and he was also a Timothy. They had another son John, born Boston, Nov. 12, 1852.There was also a Kieran Gunning, living with Timothy and Margaret in the 1850 Massachusetts census. His age was listed as twelve,I think he may have been a younger brother of Timothy's.
Timothy number 2 married Maria Carney, born Ireland daughter of William. They had nine children that I know of ,thus far,all born in Ma.Timothy and Maria, were married on Sept.10,1868 in Boston. Thier children were Maggie M.1870, Mary K,1871, Stephen,1872, Timothy W. (my gggrandfather)1874,Elizabeth, 1876, Isabella, 1878,Robert,1880 Joseph J.,1882,and Alice 1884.
Timothy William Gunning, was born on June 09, 1874. He married Grace Ellen Morrison on Nov. 10,1901 in Boston. My grandfather William Joseph Gunning was born in Boston on July 27, 1902.He also moved to New York City, in the early 1920's. He had a beautiful singing voice(tenor)and he proformed under the stage name of Billy Mack. One interesting fact is the two Gunning brothers Timothy W. and Stephen both married two Morrison sisters, Grace and Sarah,
