I would very much appreciate anyone having information regarding my great-greatgrandparents who travelled by sea from Heysham Lancaster England to Canada in 1847. They were an English Duke and Duchess with 10 children. The Duchess was named Jeanette Pennington married 6/27/1820 to Robert Mitchell Hadwin b.1795 d.1847 En route to Canadaboth became ill(influenza?)died, were buried at sea leaving behind 7 daughters and 3 sons (also dukes and duchesses) orphans who settled in Ontario, Canada with relatives. My great-grandmother was the youngest, also named Jeanette (sp?) Pennington Hadwin who married a Dr. Byers (one of several brothers & his father who were all doctors). Dr. Byers lived and practiced medicine in Greenbank, NW Territory before he died. His brother Charles (also a doc, married to Laura) practiced medicine in Fremont NB, USA. The Duchess moved to and died in Stanton Nebraska where her daughter Eleanor married a Dr. Oscar Hopper. I an one of the few living relatives of the youngest,Duchess Jeanette Pennington Hadwin Byers and would very much like to get in touch with anyone related to me.Please excuse the long post but I hoped that these details might help fill in the blanks and help find a link between someone from the Pennington or Hadwin family who might know of the history of how the Duchess got her title and would like to correspond with me.Thank you.
