Accordingto a document that John Hale’s son Willam (born about 1834 in Russell county,VA provided in his Guion Miller Roll application, William stated that hisfather was born 1808 near Avington, VA. I could not find Avington, VA, but I did find Abingdon, Washington county, VA.
