Parents of Francis Hailstones b. 1816 were Francis Hailstones and Mary or Marion Smith. Mary Smith can be found in 1841 census, living with son Francis on Slaty or Hondarwood Road, West Calder. N.K. Smith, on the 1841 census record, was probably a census and/or census transcription error; I think N.K. Smith was actually Francis's and Mary's daughter Margaret.
Siblings of Francis Hailstones b. 1816:
Thomas Hailstones b. 17 June 1804, Carnwath Lanark.
William Hailstones b. 9 Apr 1812 Canwath, Lanark, married Jean/Jane Yeardly on 3 Apr 1835. Had many children. Have information on many of them, should you want it.
James Hailstones b. 19 Dec 1809 in Carwath, married Margaret Graham, d. 1857 Whitburn, married Margaret Graham. Again, had many children. I knew who they all were, and have information on some of them.
Catharine Hailstones, b. 10 Nov 1807 Carnwath. Married William Bryce. Died 21 June 1856 Fauldhouse, Whitburn.
Thomas Hailstones, b. 17 June 1804 Carnwath, Lanark. Married Agnes Grant.
Jane Hailstones b. 25 Apr 1802, West Calder, Midlothian
William Hailstones b. 20 Apr 1800. Died before 1812.
Also Mary Hailstones's brother James b. 1855 in Whitburn married Margaret "Maggie" Anderson. I have additional informatin on him, but have not yet assembled it cogently, i.e. for easy digestion.
Finally, I believe, though I have no evidence to support such a claim, that Francis Hailstones, husband of Marion/Mary Smith, was born 9 May 1779 in Lasswade. Parents: Thomas Hailstones and Catherine or Jean McMillan. This is just an educated guess, based on no real evidence.
I am related to William Hailstones, who I believe is a brother of Francis b. 1779.
