Halls of Chatham County NC
My half-sister and I have different mothers. My mother’s maiden name was Hall, and I have tracked my Hall lineage back to g-g-g-g-grandparents John Hall and Mary Pyle. John’s son Samuel was born in Chatham County NC in 1777. I recently learned that my half-sister’s maternal grandmother was also a Hall, and I’ve found that she descends from Benjamin Hall and Rebekah (Rebecca?) Brantley.Benjamin was born in 1773, and is also from Chatham County. Discovering this got me thinking my half-sister and I must be related through our maternal ancestors. Evidently though, this is not the case. We can track both sets of our Hall ancestors back to the same time period in the same small county (1790 population of Chatham County was about 9,000), and yet I can find no trace of any relationship between them, not even an indication that they were acquainted with one another.Has anyone on this forum got any evidence of a connection between Samuel and Benjamin? Thanks.
