Dear David,
Nice to hear from you!
My father's mother was Anne Halldearn, (married name Harrison),daughter of Charles Henry Halldearn, who was originally from Chetwynd, Salop.
Have you got the results from the 1881 Census? There were not many Halldearns, but I have details of them all. They were all living at the time either in and around Newport,Salop, or in Lancashire. Do let me know if you have not got these results and I will send them to you.
I can obviously tell you more about other ancestors of mine from later than the 1881 Census, but I'll wait till I hear from you so that I don't give you unwanted information.
I live in Manchester, England, and am 35 years old. My father, Douglas Charles Harrison,is still alive (aged 63). He is our oldest known link with the Halldearn family.
You may be interested to know about a website of mine. I am a hand bookbinder and I have named my business Halldearn's Bookbinders. You can visit it at bespokebookbinder.co.uk
Do write soon and let me know whether or not you have the 1881 Census results.
All the best,
Mark Harrison.E-mail [email protected]
In case you're wondering, Shirley Harrison, nee Phinn, is my mother.
