I am interested in tracing any members of this family about whom one member, the Rev. Arthur Washington Cornelius Hallen, Episcopalian parson of Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland wrote a book which had a print-run of 100 copies (1885). His only son was Arthur Erskine Herbert Cornelius Hallen, born 1866.
An uncle of the author, above named, was the pioneer Canadian Anglican cleric, the Revd George Hallen, B.A. Oxon. (Queen's College)(1794-1882) of Penetanguishene and Orillia, Ontario. His eldest son was another George Hallen (1821/2-1898), who was sometime a professor of music. He married Arabella Diana Hamlyn St John, apparently the fourth of the five daughters of retired British army officer, Capt. St Andrew St John (1794-1838), of 'Bolingbroke', Orillia, Upper Canada (later Ontario), a collateral relation of Lord Bolingbroke (see Burke's Peerage, sub Bolingbroke, Viscountcy of), by his wife Margaret Moore (of Manx origin).
This couple's son was George St John Hallen (b. 1851/2, Canada West [now Ontario, Canada], who in 1881 married Charlotte Amy Rutherford Muttlebury, daughter of Rutherford Muttlebury (1813/4-1849), barrister, of Toronto, Ontario, by his wife Hannah Foster Ellah, of Toronto (married there 1844). The latter Hallen couple's only son was George Muttlebury Hallen (b. 1881/2, Ontario, d. ca 1958-62, Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada).
I am attempting to trace any relations and further ancestors.
