In case anyone thinks there was a transcription error here, I have obtained and verified the original records:
1) the original deed from Charles Humphries does, indeed, name David "Ally Burton" as the husband of Susannah Woods.
2) the metes and bounds of the 1762 deed from Charles Humphries exactly matches the description of the land patent given to Richard Wood.
3) the original will of Richard Wood does refer to the patent and shows he bequeathed it to his only daughter Susannah Wood.
I can make a hand-waving case for all of David Halliburton's sons being sons of Amey, EXCEPT David, Jr.If my argument is in error, then I believe the error would be in not including more sons as the sons of Susannah Woods.
