Chris, many researchers feel the unnamed child whose burial is recorded at Augustus Evangelical Lutheran Church on 29-Sept-1745 is Anthony, the oldest son of Henry (b. abt 1716, son of Anthony and Maria Salome) and his first wife, Anna Maria (surname unknown). But I'm not sure the evidence supports that. The dead child's age is given as 3 yrs, and Anthony's birthdate is 8-Nov-1742. He would have been only 2 years old on the date of the burial. Ages were never rounded up in church records, so if the dead child were really Anthony, his age would show as 2 yrs, or 2 yrs, 10 mos & # days. Others feel the dead child was Henry (b. 24-Mar-1745), but Henry would have been only about 6 months old in September 1745. I feel there's a strong possibility that a child could have been born between Anna Catherine (b. March 1741) and Anthony (b. 8-Nov-1742). A child born between December 1741 and late Jan/early Feb 1742 would 'fit' between Anna Catherine and Anthony, and would be three years old in Sept 1745. The births of Henry's first two known children (daughters Anna Christina and Anna Catherine) are not recorded in the Augustus Lutheran Church records. We know about them through Henry's will and either their confirmation record or marriage record. So it's not inconceivable that IF Henry had a son between Anna Catherine and Anthony, that birth record for that child wouldn't be there either.Granted, if there really were three children their births would have been very close together. But Henry was prolific and I don't think this theory is out of the realm of possibility. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about this.
