My Family Tree (which currently lists eight generations)is stuck in Dublin circa 1795 with Patrick Halton born c1795 died before 1827 he was married to Mary Anne of Dublin born c1795. They had a son John bc 1818 in Dublin d 21 Dec 1888 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. John was apprenticed, by his mother and Step Father William Farrell(of Dublin) to the composer Haydn Corri and became Professor of Music and Organist for Mullingar Cathederal (1837-1887).
It is strongly believed that the family came originally from England moving under Cromwells plans, and there are a lot of Halton Families around the Westmeath Area all believing they are unrelated. Does anyone have any information that may link the families back to England?
One of John's sons (10 children altogether!) moved back to Yorkshire becoming Mayor of Barnsley in 1892-3 (My G.G.F.)whilst others moved to Manchester and the USA.
