Here is a proven list of the Col. Hambright family of Lincoln Co., NC and York Co., SC. First the children of Sarah Hardin. (1) Elizabeth b. before 1755 d.before 1821 m.ca1775 Joseph Jenkins and lived on the Long Creek homplace, Lincoln (now Gaston) Co., NC. This family well documented in the Col. Hambright Family history by Bonnie Mauney Summers and can be found in many of the local Libraries in that area. (2) John Hardin Hambright b. 17 Mar 1762 d. McMinn Co., TN m.28 Oct 1784 York Co., SC Nancy Black. They have records in Greene, Knox and McMinn Co.,TN. Some family in the Hambright history. (3)Frederick Hambright, Jr. b.1766 m.3 Nov 1787 Mary Eaker and lived on Kings Creek on the NC/SC line and are buried in Shiloh Cemetery where the Col and Mary Dover are buried. Their family spread out all over but has been documented in "The Shoe Cobbler's Kin, a genealogy of the Peter Eaker, Sr. Family which can be found in most Libraries. (4)Benjamin Hambright d. before 1844 Knox Co., TN census shows one son and one daughter, but only son John has been traced to Morgan Co., TN. (5)James M. Hambright b.1778 m. Rachel Wells and moved to Simpson Co., KY and later to Jackson Co., MO. Family documentation in the Col. Hambright History. (6) Sarah Hambright b.ca 1775 d.1826 Cape Girardeau Co., MO m. John Peter Eaker. this family well documented in The Shoe Cobbler's Kin, Volumes I & II, a genealogy of the Peter Eaker, Sr. family and is my line. The next ones are children of Mary Dover. (7) Henry Hambright b. ca 1782 York Co., SC drowned in TN (probably McMinn Co) m. Anna Stewart Price many descendants of this family live in the Dalton GA and West Texas areas. (8) Mary Hambright b.ca1784 York Co., SC d.1820 Marshall Co., AL m.Reese Price and descendants in NE AL and Chattanooga TN area. (9) Sophia Hambright b. SC married William Quinn and live near her parents in SC. Four known sons. (10)David Hambright m. Sarah Graham and lived on Kings Creek. Many descendants are in AR. (11) Josiah Hambright b. 1 Oct. 1791 m. Elizabeth Moss and lived on Kings creek. (12) Charlotte Hambright m. Alex Norton No further data on her. (13 Abner b.1798 d. 1816, single (14) Susannah Hambright m. William Dixon and lived on Kings Creek. some of this family in NE GA. She attended the Centennial Celebration of the Battle Of Kings Mountain in OCT. 1880, but died shortly thereafter. NOTE: There were eight children who died young. Due to the disparity of ages, probably most of them were of the first marriage. NOWHERE in any record is there a NANCY mentioned and no interaction with the Stroupe family. I've tried for nearly 30 years to either prove or dispell this myth but it keeps poping up and there is absolutely no proof whatsoever.
