Hi Ron,
I found Carrie Hanks Hamman's obituary in the Booneville Weekly Enquirer of January 23, 1903. It reads: "Carrie" wife of Alvah Hammond formerly of this place but now of Sommerville, died at the home of her father Mr. (Wane?) Hanks of that place, January 16, after a long illness of consumption. Her remains were laid to rest in the Sommerville Cemetry, January 17, 1903. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, one daughter, a father, one sister and one brother. The family have the sympathy of the community. Carrie's official death certificate, filed with the Gibson County Department of Health in Princeton, IN lists her unfortunate death as occurring on 1/16/1903 and caused by an "organic disorder of heart and dropsy, 2 years". If you would like copies of the obit and death cert, contact me at [email protected]. With kind regards, Jim
